Little Oak
Irish Dexter Farm
|
||
Little Oak Farm consists
of 11 acres of prairie-like land in North East Texas. We purchased the
farm in 1997. It is located on a wet weather tributary of Willow Oak
Creek in Hunt County creatively named Little Oak Creek, hence the name
Little Oak Farm.
At that time we purchased the property it
was being used to graze calves during the growing season. The land had
been farm land some time in the past. It had been over grazed and both
the soil and fences were in poor condition. We spent the next five
years improving the soil and replacing fences. We refrained from
starting a cattle operation until we were comfortable that the land was
in condition to successfully use sustainable agriculture techniques. |
